Sterling Silver and Gold Plated
A major theme of Charlize Nhung’s works examined the journey of The Vietnamese Boat People, an Asian diasporic, experienced and seen through an Artist’s perspective. The research takes on an experimental process paired with secondary resources from academic literature, archive, journal, reports, and multimedia. All to compose a cohesive story that speaks to the complexity of displacement and adaptation a Vietnamese refugee often faced through a fragmented view. Through an experiential concept developed by the artist, jewellery and object begin to display notions of identity via themes of memory, craft theory, and multidisciplinary practice.
This is an ongoing theme in many projects for the artist.
All work and photography are done by the artist with exception of the model photo, assist by Jonathan Alcorta.
